Technical question
« on: February 01, 2003, 10:53:36 AM »
I\'ve got a technical question for all you experienced Mark Twain mechanics out there.  I\'ve got a 1985 V-Sonic 170 BR powered by a 140hp mercruiser inline 4 I/O.  I need to change the alternator belt as it is starting to slip a bit and can\'t be tightened any more.  Usually this is a five minute job, but in this case the belt passes through the front motor mount.  Which, unless I\'m missing a hidden trick, means that I have to remove the front mount to get the belt off.  This seems like a lot of trouble to go through to change a belt, and I\'m wondering if anyone has run into this before and has gotten around it.
